A man upset about Ted Cruz’s immigration policies was tossed out of a Bronx restaurant after he heckled the Texas Senator and Republican presidential candidate, according to NBC News and other published reports.
NBC News reports that the heckler was asked to leave Sabrosura 2 as Cruz made the rounds at the Soundview restaurant. The heckler followed the presidential candidate around and began yelling once he reached the back of the business, calling Cruz a bigot and a racist.
According to the Daily News, the demonstrator said “you’re running an anti-immigration platform, and you’re speaking in the Bronx. You should not be here.”
After the outburst, the demonstrator and another were seen on video leaving the restaurant. One was speaking loudly in Spanish as he walked by an area where members of the press had staged, and two police officers followed them out of the restaurant.
The two men who were seen leaving the restaurant appear to be members of the Bronx rap duo Rebel Diaz.
“Holdin court in front of @tedcruz press wall after interrupting his event in #TheBronx with some important questions,” the group tweeted afterward.
Cruz did not speak about the heckler to the media after the event.
