New Yorkers weren’t ready for LeBron to take the subway

Imagine taking the subway to avoid a delay?

LeBron James and the Cavaliers opted to get the full New York City experience Monday, riding the subway instead of a bus back to their hotel after a morning shootaround at the Garden ahead of their game against the Knicks.

James and the team documented the trip on video. Some commuters recognized them — one told them, “KP gonna get y’all tonight” as they walked through Penn Station — while others were oblivious.

In one of the videos, James filmed himself from his seat on the C train and showed a man sitting next to him, who immediately shielded his face and asked, “Can you not?” The man got up and left, giving James and his teammates some more breathing space.

“We had two options,” guard/forward Kyle Korver said on James’ video. “A 45-minute bus ride or a six-minute train ride.”

And so the team, decked out in Cavaliers gear, hit the subway.

“Trying to look like a real citizen, man,” ex-Knick J.R. Smith said.

The MTA shot back on Twitter, thanking James for riding the subway before adding, “but the King of this town is @kporzee and we’re riding with the Knicks tonight.”
